That's right, that's me: the one who writes in two languages.
It all depends on my mood, the season, the weather... everything and anything.
Spanish is my home—a safe place. I move from line to line as I please. Do you remember that scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade when Indy has to take a leap of faith? Sometimes, I feel as if I carried huge doubts, but once I start typing away in Español, nothing stops me.
That's me when I write in Spanish. I have 100% faith in my abilities.
But when I write in English, sometimes I feel like I’m putting on a disguise so I can interact with other people. Inside, I'm still me. But, on the outside, I am different. Another rhythm, a different cadence, and I'm definitely moving more carefully. It takes me time to gain the confidence to move safely in my surroundings.
However, something curious happens at times. On occasion, especially when I am writing poetry, there comes a time when I am not aware of what language I am writing in. All I know is that the words flow through me.
I know that for some people, this may sound too out there, but it doesn't matter. It's the truth.
